January 31st 2008 Lately the phones at HOLLYWOULD have been ringing like crazy with celebrity requests, with everyone from Tyra Banks to Eva Longoria to Keyshia Cole to the cast of The Hills wanting to wear our new Cruise 2008 shoes, bags, and dresses. We love all of you, and can’t wait to see you wearing HOLLYWOULD in all of our favorite weekly mags! New York Fashion Week technically starts tomorrow but the parties started last week with a fęte to celebrate Scott Schuman’s fabulous photos of fashionistas, which he takes for Style.com and his cult blog “The Sartorialist” (http://www.thesartorialist.blogspot.com/). If you don’t know about Scott and his photos you definitely need to expand your fashion horizons and check them out, pronto. They are amazing. I have taken the liberty to steal a few party picks from the soiree, but if you want the full story and photo montage, Style.com’s party page is the hottest spot in town. After the party I had promised pals Sparrow & Jessica Joffe that I would meet them uptown for a movie, and since the three of us are exceedingly intellectual and scholarly, we decided to see Cloverfield. In case you don’t know, Cloverfield is about a monster that attacks The following night I had planned to stay home and do necessary things like laundry, but instead happened to run into one of my oldest friends in NYC, the lovely & talented Abby Klein. If you read this diary or have attended a HOLLYWOULD party, you might know Abby as HOLLYWOULD’s rockin’ in-house DJ. Without much effort, Abby persuaded me that staying home was a very bad idea, and instead we headed out on the town. We started at Nolita landmark dive bar Sweet & Vicious, where we met our friend Colombe and headed to Nolita’s landmark independent bookstore McNally Robinson for a reading. From the bookstore we headed to the lower After a crazy week I headed to This week has flown by, but last night I managed to squeeze in a big night out with HOLLYWOULD stars Fiona Bora and Morgan White to attend the Vogue party for Eres, dinner at Serafina, and drinks at the Carlyle Hotel’s Bellman Bar. The three of us had a blast, which I’ve been paying for all day, but nevertheless the show must go on. Big shout-out to Fiona & Morgan. And last but not least, this week we found a new favorite blogger and HOLLYWOULD fan, who writes a hilarious blog at: http://loosyinthesky.blogspot.com/ Awesome. January 21st 2008 After a week of convalescing from my wild Bahamas voyage, I ventured out last night with HOLLYWOULD PR Star Francesca Traldi, NYC Style Star Kate Schelter, Art+Commerce Star Blythe, and Miami’s Moet Chandon Star Dana Schou. Being the genius that Francesca is, she had recommended Indochine for our girl’s night out, which has fast become my favorite restaurant in NYC. Love the décor, love the staff, love the crowd, love the ambiance, and although far less important than all of the above, the food is excellent too. From Indochine we lucked into getting a ride from a super stretch black limo that apparently had nothing better to do, and asked the driver to take us straight to The Rose Bar at the Gramercy Park Hotel. As usual, The Rose Bar was packed with celebrities so famous I didn’t recognized a soul (New Year’s Resolution = Watch More TV), and by the time I got home even my doorman had fallen asleep. This week promises to be action packed, and in the meantime you can check out the photos (right) of some of our favorite HOLLYWOULD girls looking fabulous, as usual.
January 16th 2008 I would like to take a moment to dedicate this diary entry to a very special someone named Robby Adams, who celebrated his “30th” birthday this past weekend in The Bahamas with his lovely wife Allison and a group of extremely tame, mature, and responsible friends who flew in from as far as Tampa, Dallas, and NYC to be there. As you can see from the photos (right), Robby’s friends are an exceedingly mellow lot… the kind of people who are up with the sun for a workout, enjoy wheat grass smoothies and light jazz, and polish off the day with a white wine spritzer (heavy on the spritzer) before hitting the hay at dusk. As a result, there was absolutely no excessive boozing by the “adult” pool at The Cove, no late night gambling in the Atlantis casino, no dancing on tables at a club called Aura, no rap video style parties on a yacht called Little Mac, and certainly no public displays of cross-dressing by a member of our group named Tommy. None whatsoever. The trip was so mellow, in fact, that we will all need at least a full week to recover and many have sworn off booze for life. Big HAPPY BIRHTDAY shout-out to Robby and the whole January 2nd 2008 Happy New Year!
I’ve been M.I.A. due to holiday fun which started with sunshine & boating in I know the big question that’s on your mind is “Did you see Tom & Katie in Telluride?”, and the answer, I’m afraid to say, is “No”. Of course, we tried everything we could to find them, but with the new fashion of ski helmets and full face goggles, celebrity spotting on the mountain is not like it used to be. However, we did manage to run into Jerry Seinfeld and his son in the lodge, which may very well top TomKat. Speaking of celebrities… the beautiful and talented Susan Lucci (aka: “Erica Kane” from All My Children), paid a visit to the HOLLYWOULD Palm Beach store this week and fell in love with some of our new Cruise 2008 items, including my personal fave, the Red Shell Betty Dress (photo right). Thank you Susan for stopping in to shop – we love you! And speaking of customers we love, check out our photo (right) of Mike Dutton, who looks fabulously groovy for a 1960’s cocktail party in her favorite HOLLYWOULD Coral Branch Sandals and vintage Lilly Pulitzer caftan. We think anyone who can look so good in a caftan & flats is fabulous, and have hereby crowned Mrs. Dutton the HOLLYWOULD CUSTOMER OF THE MONTH for January. This means Mrs. Dutton wins a $150 Gift Certificate to the HOLLYWOULD store! If any of you would like to be our next HOLLYWOULD CUSTOMER OF THE MONTH, send a photo of yourself in HOLLYWOULD to shop@hollywould.com today, and be sure to title your email CUSTOMER OF THE MONTH! |
