June 27th 2004 And now, the diary entry you’ve all been waiting for… The LA Party. For those of you who are not yet in-the-know, we have just opened our very first HOLLYWOULD store in sunny Hollywood, CA. The “store” is located inside the bar Star Shoes, which has been a hot cocktail spot for celebs for the past few years. We’ll be selling HOLLYWOULD shoes out of the bar during the day, and serving cocktails each evening. The store will only be open from now until August 15th, so come while it lasts!
In order to celebrate this grand occasion, we decided to throw a party with all of our favorite celebs and Lucky Magazine. As you can see from the photos, it was quite a night. Because Absolute Vodka sponsored the booze, the photos and memories get a little bit blurry a few hours into the event but from what I remember, it was a blast. The evening started with much hyperventilating from the HOLLYWOULD staff, due to the arrival of Rachel Bilson, also known as “Summer”, our favorite leading lady of everyone’s favorite show, The OC. If you read this diary you know that when I am in America, my Wednesday night belongs to The OC (along with all of the other girls at HOLLYWOULD), so we were all thrilled to have “Summer” in attendance. Not only did Rachel B. look divine in our rainbow Cucaracha shoes, but she was sweet, funny, smart, and cool which made us all love her even more. And, when her foxy & hilarious boyfriend Adam Brody (aka: “Seth”) showed up, it was all we could do to restrain ourselves from stalking both of them. We’ve all decided that she’s the next Julia Roberts and he’s the next Tom Hanks, and they need to get married, have cute babies, and live happily ever after… in the OC. Next to arrive was Aisha Tyler, looking fantabulous in pants with our white “Disco” shoes. Aisha is now officially our favorite girl in the world, and currently has a book out on the stands which you must go buy now. Aisha is not only beautiful, but also hilarious, extremely smart, and 100% down-to-earth. The worst part about hosting a party is that you can only talk to each person for 2 minutes in order to make the rounds, but I really wanted to just go out to dinner with Aisha so I could hear more of her hilarious stories about her book tour & trip to Miami with her husband. We’ve all decided that Aisha needs her very own show because we just can’t get enough of her! Entertainment execs are you listening? Next to arrive, or maybe I’m losing track, was Jessica Capshaw, who is about as classy as they come. She looked beautiful in a Tracey Feith dress and HOLLYWOULD “Jenne” shoes. We always love it when Jessica is photographed wearing our shoes, because girls from all over the globe call our store the minute they see her begging for “the shoes Jessica Capshaw has”! This girl is definitely one of our favorite HOLLYWOULD Style Icons. Also in attendance was the lovely Brittany Daniel, who dressed appropriately for our “Old Hollywood Glamour” theme in an adorable pill-box hat. You have to be really, really beautiful to pull off a look like that, and Brittany certainly didn’t have an ounce of trouble looking fabulous. As the night moved on, HOLLYWOULD favorite Nicky Hilton arrived with Bijou Phillips, who both looked gorgeous posing for the cameras in their HOLLYWOULD shoes. We’ve been hearing rumors that their night got even wilder once our little soiree ended, but you’ll have to read the gossip mags to get that scoop! There were many more celebs and fabulous people in attendance, and you’ll see them in upcoming issues of US Weekly, InTouch, and People, so I don’t want to ruin the surprise! From the party we all headed to dinner at the new restaurant Tokio, where the food is delicious, the sake is strong, and a Japanese girl sings karaoke dressed as Madonna and Cyndi Lauper. Fabulous. Once we were well fed & beveraged, we headed to Beauty Bar for tequila shots along with some break-dancing moves we would rather not repeat, and from there went to the Spider Club at The Avalon, and then back to Star Shoes for more dancing until the break o’dawn. So, if you live in LA, come visit our HOLLYWOULD Happy Hour at Star Shoes this Thursday and if you don’t, you really need to move. June 23rd 2004 I know, I know, I know... I need to post my diary entry for our party in LA (see pictures right). Girls, I promise to have it up by the end of the week, and it will be worth the wait.... June 16th 2004 I love LA. I've said it before (see diary entries Jan 15-19, 2003) and I'll say it again: LA rocks. People in New York, Europe, and the entire rest of the world just don't seem to get LA. They all say 'It's horrible!', 'You have to drive everywhere!', 'The people are so shallow!', 'We like San Francisco better!'. Whatevs, dude. It rules here. New Yorkers are the worst when it comes to LA bashing, and they always love to point out the fact there are no 'intellectuals' in LA. They're right. Who needs a bunch of intellectuals when you've got a town full o' bonafide genuises? LA is so totally awesome. Anywho, the reason I am even in this fair city is because yes... you heard it second here (first on www.dailycandy.com today), we have opened a HOLLYWOULD store in LA. And, the best news is... it's in a bar. That's right, you can now sip your martinis while you shop for shoes, right in Hollywood, CA. Our store is located in the 1950's shoe-store-turned-cocktail-lounge, 'Star Shoes' (www.starshoes.org) on Hollywould Boulevard. Tomorrow night is our big opening soiree, and it is sure to be celebrity packed. We've even had an RSVP from 'Halle Berry's Stunt Double', so I'm really excited. Today we opened our doors around 2pm and our first store customer ever was the lovely, beautiful, talented Jessica Capshaw. She is divine! Jessica had just returned from her honeymoon looking radiant, and looked exquisite in every pair of shoes she tried. We think that having a class act like Jessica Capshaw as our very first customer is a sign that this place is going to be a hit. We love you Jessica! In other celebrity news, I received a phone call from the office today telling me that our fashion favorite Kelly Osbourne has discovered HOLLYWOULD! Apparently she has instructed her stylist to track down a slew of styles, and we are thrilled. Those of you who read this diary know how much I love the whole Osbourne fam (see Feb 9, 2003), so this news is fabulous! Yeah Kelly! Isn't LA great?! June 14th 2004 Our new HOLLYWOULD Pre-Fall 2004 Collection has hit the shops, and it is the ultimate in “chic bohemian” style. For this collection I was inspired by Indiana Jones, and you can see the Raiders of the Lost Ark details in everything from the bull-whip purse handles to Moroccan globe ornaments to snakeskin stripes (remember Indie in the snake pit?!). This summer I will be living in the braided leather “India” & “Indiana” sandals, metallic “Cairo” & “Egypt” sandals, and we already have celebrity orders for the satin starlet “Reese” shoes. You can’t help but look like a star in any of these, and with the matching bags (my favorite is the “Bombay” bag), you’re sure to look like a million bucks. Speaking of a million bucks, we’re having a… SALE! SALE! SALE! Yes, in order to make room for our new collection, we have given you lucky ladies big discounts on Spring & Summer merchandise! All Spring is now 30% off (wow!), and all Summer is 20% off (double wow!). These are shoes & bags that you will certainly wear all summer long and love forever, so move fast as we don’t have many sizes left in stock! And last but not least, our favorite HOLLYWOULD mom, supermodel, and rockstar wife, Iman, was in the shop today buying shoes. Keep a look out for this chic beauty looking glam in HOLLYWOULD in all of your favorite mags. We love you Iman! June 13th 2004 My feet had barely touched the ground in NYC and I am already off again to far away places. This stay in NYC was short, but I did manage to squeeze in a few noteworthy events... For one, I met Eve. Yes, beautiful rapper hip-hop princess extraordinaire, Eve. For those of you who love Eve as much as I do, I will inform you that she is even prettier in person and that she is sweet, gracious, and 100% class. She informed me that while she does love her heels, like any girl with a realistic lifestyle she also loves a chic jeweled flat, and thus ordered our Sophia shoe on the spot. You must go to our collections page to find the Sophia, but it comes in silver for Spring and gold for Summer and is so chic it will stop traffic. I can't wait to see Eve sporting hers! I also did manage to have a late night on the town, which started with dinner at Bar Pitti with my pal Kate Schelter and continued onto a birthday party at The Slipper Room (where I met actor Paul Rudd - FYI girls: nice, cute, 5'9) and ran into my favorite pal Rashida Jones, who looked gorgeous as usual. From there we headed out nightclubbing at the Maritime until 4am. Once again, I acted completely irresponsibly and missed my morning flight, and have finally arrived in Arizona but am still on the mend. There will be more to come later this week when we have our big HOLLYWOULD soiree in Hollywood, CA. June 11th 2004 As you can see to the right, our Palm Beach store manager Emily has been having lots of fun this summer hosting parties chez HOLLYWOULD. These are some of our favorite Palm Beach customers looking absolutely fabulous in their HOLLYWOULD shoes! We love you girls! June 7th 2004 I have just recieved word from our NYC store manager Rachel that the beautiful Mandy Moore was shopping chez HOLLYWOULD yesterday, and that she 'looked gorgeous & natural and was sweet & adorable'. Sounds like all of our HOLLYWOULD customers! June 3rd 2004 So sorry girls, but I have to brag. You've seen us in Vogue, you've seen us in W, you've seen us in Vanity Fair. But now, we've moved onto bigger and better things. Yes that's right, this month HOLLYWOULD is on the cover of Nail Pro Magazine. Our lovely green 'Manbait' shoes are featured, with a beautiful pedicure to match. And just in case you think I'm lying... just in case you think it's too good to be true... here is the link: http://www.nailpro.com/ June 2nd 2004 For those of you who missed it, HOLLYWOULD was featured on The Today Show this morning (as Harpers Bazaar’s summer favorites), on Jane’s New York (NBC) this weekend, and on Britney Spears live concert show on Fox TV last night! If you missed the concert, you can see Britney perform our favorite song ‘Toxic’ in our foxy black legwarmer boots by going to the AOL homepage, ‘TV’s Top 5’, and then Britney. Pay no attention to the headline accusing her of lip-syncing ala Milli Vanilli. Clearly someone at AOL has a jealousy issue, because everyone knows that our favorite Miss Brit sings every single word. Other news from NYC is that this past week we’ve been inundated with celebrity requests from some of our very favorite starlets. Keep an eye out for glamour girls like Reese Witherspoon, Susan Sarandon, Halle Berry, and Uma Thurman wearing HOLLYWOULD in upcoming fashion spreads. I don’t think we could find a group of more gorgeous, fashionable girls if we tried, so we’re very excited that they have all found us! |
